In memoriam: Kenneth A. Armson

Kenneth A. Armson, OC and long-time member of ASA (66 years) and SSSA (43 years), died Dec. 9, 2024 at the age of 97 following a brief illness. After a distinguished career teaching and undertaking research in forest soils and silviculture at the Faculty of Forestry, University of Toronto, from 1952 to 1978, he joined the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, retiring  in 1989 after serving as Provincial Forester. He authored a text on forest soils in 1977 and many papers on forest soils and nursery soil management. He was active for many years in SSSA Division S-7 Forest and Range Soils (now called Forest, Range, and Wildland Soils). In June 2016, he was appointed an Officer in the Order of Canada (OC).
