Advocating for USDA Science Investments
ASA, CSSA, and SSSA are working to protect vital USDA research programs that drive innovation in agriculture, food security, and environmental sustainability. See how we’re taking action—and how you can help.
What Are the Societies Doing?
Advocating for our members is a key role of our Societies. Here's a glimpse into examples of what we're doing:
- Virtual town hall on administration actions
- ASA, CSSA, SSSA leadership meetings with House and Senate Agriculture Committee staff
- 55 Society members in DC for Congressional Visits Day
- Communications to Society members asking for their stories and urging them to reach out to Congress
- Working with aligned organizations and scientific societies to share the impacts across food and agriculture research disciplines
What Can You Do?
Our members—the scientists and researchers on the front lines—have the most credibility and authority on the importance of USDA research. Here's how you can help:
- Reach out to your Member of Congress and share about the value of USDA research
- Join a policy circle on the Member Hub
- Volunteer to serve on the Science Policy Committee
- Apply for the Congressional Science Fellowship
