Welcome to the new Crops & Soils!

March 8, 2025
Crops & Soils cover

We hope you enjoy our new all-digital format. Our ultimate goal is better service to our valued certified professionals and readers. Please note that currently the magazine only features content from 2024 and 2025. We are working to post all content going back to 2020 soon.

Here is some of what you can expect with the new format:

  1. Timely updates: We’ll be posting daily, so bookmark the homepage and check back often for updates.

  2. Issues delivered to your inbox instead of your mailbox: If you’re a CCA or CPSS, you’ll automatically get each month’s issue emailed to you. Not a certified? No worries. Just selection “Sign up for issue alerts” to get issues delivered to you.

  3. Mobile-friendly design: Access content on any device. Not connected to the internet and still want to read? No problem. Each article and be downloaded/printed.

  4. More visual storytelling: Over time, we’ll be increasing the use of dynamic tools to explain concepts (like videos, animations, infographics, and the like).

  5. No logins/paywall: We want to make it as easy as possible for readers to access content and share content with others (see terms).

  6. Intuitive navigation: We’ve created multiple pathways to finding content of interest to you (see below).

  7. Special collections: Over time, we’ll be bundling up packages of content across years and issues that fit within popular topics or themes of interest to readers.

  8. Expanded scope: Over time, we’ll be adding new features and different types of content to better serve our certified professionals.

How do I find what I’m looking for?

At the top of the homepage, you’ll see some of the most recent articles posted. Scrolling down the page, you will then see some menu buttons that will allow you to enter into certain sections of the magazine (e.g,. Issues, Regions, CEU Categories, People, News & Perspectives, Careers & Education, and Special Collections). Scrolling down further, you’ll see a section showing what is trending, i.e., our most read articles. If you just want to search for a particular topic, the search bar at the top of the page can help you zero in on what you are looking for.

Can I still submit an article to the magazine?

Yes! We encourage submissions. See our submissions guidelines

Can I share articles with others or repost them?

Yes! We encourage sharing as long as credit is given to Crops & Soils. Our text is under a Creative Commons license. See our terms. If you want to repost/reprint images, though, you should contact the Editor to see if permissions can be granted on the images in question as some images may be under copyright.

Will I still receive a print version?

No! In order to reduce our carbon footprint and invest in more timely content using modern technology, we have replaced mailing out issues each month with emailing issues to you each month.

What if I want to read an article when I am without an internet connection?

Each article can be downloaded as a pdf or printed out.

I don’t see content from past years. When will it appear?

We are working on posting all content going back to 2020 soon. Check back frequently or contact the Editor if you are in need of a specific article.

I have questions. Whom do I contact?

Send a message to the Editor.
